We have heard from many families who are looking for ways to help our community! We anticipate a huge increase in need, and are inspired by your dedication to help others. We are partnering with the Niles Township Food Pantry to host another food and toiletry donation drive. The Pantry serves hundreds of families in our community, including many in District 68.
Next week, Monday, November 3rd to Thursday, November 6th, we will have boxes available at the front offices of our schools for your donations. At this time, the highest need items are: cooking oil, diapers, feminine hygiene products, and baby formula.
If you are unable to donate food, but would like to support, a monetary donation goes a long way. The Food Pantry is able to buy in bulk, buy refrigerated items, and without the sales tax, dollars go further. If you are willing and able, you can make a donation here:
You can support the great work the Niles Township Government does through the Food Pantry by volunteering, too! Families who prefer not to go out at this time can ask for a proxy shopper/delivery provided by Pantry Volunteers.
From the Niles Township Food Pantry:
November 1 SNAP benefits for 3,330 Township families will end.
At our food pantry, we witness firsthand the impact of hunger on families, children, and seniors, and we also see the incredible difference our community makes when we work together.
If we can get 1,000 neighbors to commit to $20 per month (less than the cost of a takeout meal), we can provide our community with fresh produce, fresh meat, eggs, culturally sensitive foods, pantry staples, hygiene items, and diapers.
Your support helps us provide fresh produce, culturally meaningful foods, diapers, and other essentials so that every neighbor has access to the groceries and dignity they deserve.
When you give today, you’re not just filling a plate; you’re fueling hope, strengthening families, and building a stronger, more connected Niles Township.
