First Week is in the Books!

We had a great first week back to school! It has been wonderful to reconnect with all of the children and we look forward to seeing all of the families at Open House on Tuesday.

Reminder that drop off is at the gate for all families beginning on Tuesday.

We will let you know when you can again come to have lunch with your child (a practice we began last year). We need a few weeks or so to get all of the routines back into good shape before we have guests. (Kindergarten families, we will invite you to lunch with your child after winter break.)

We are incredibly thankful for the dedication and teamwork that made our school renovations possible this summer. From the construction crews and cleaning teams to our hardworking maintenance and custodial staff, as well as our incredible teachers, everyone's effort played an important role in creating a safe and welcoming environment for our students and families.

Join Band or Orchestra!

We encourage all 4th and 5th grade students to study a musical instrument through Skokie School District 68’s (free) outstanding Instrumental Music Program.

You are invited to attend an orientation meeting at Old Orchard Junior High (9310 Kenton Avenue) on Wednesday, September 17th from 7-8PM in the B-level gym. If you are unable to attend, please review this website (https://tinyurl.com/district68music) for detailed information.

Picture Day

Highland School's picture day is Friday, September 12.

A parent may order from the flyer up until 24 hours after picture day. After 24 hours, the online ordering access may close. This will allow our imaging team to "Pull" all orders submitted and match them with the students photographed.

When pictures are returned to school, all students that purchased pictures will receive their prepaid package. Any student that was photographed but did not order a package, will receive a "Proof" (PX) of their picture that was taken on picture day.

All proof packages offer parents a second opportunity to order prints. All orders are subject to shipping and handling costs of up to $8.50 and will be shipped directly to home.

HIGHLAND ROOM PARENTS NEEDED

Each Highland homeroom has several volunteer Room Parents that work together to host the Halloween and Valentine's Day class parties. Room Parents attend the classroom celebrations, and help with planning and running an activity/game or with distributing plates, napkins, refreshments & treats, etc.
